City & Guilds 7863-03 Diploma in Dog Grooming is listed on the Ofqual register as a vocationally related qualification. This means it is designed to enable the learner to acquire knowledge and skills that are required by the National Occupation Standards (NOS) to be able to perform a specific job.A Level 3 qualification is classed as a supervisory/business management role and is equivalent to a school ‘A’ Level.
As a highly respected awarding body, City & Guilds is recognised worldwide and has strict quality assurance procedures.
The City &Guilds Dog Grooming Level 3 qualification has been established for over 30 years and is reviewed on a regular basis to reflect the requirements of the industry.
There have been many different qualifications available for dog grooming over the years but it is City & Guilds that is recognised by the general public as a stamp of quality for vocational qualifications.
All City & Guilds vocational qualifications are assessed through a range of methods - practical assessments, written assessments/assignmentsand written examinations. These are all set by City & Guilds with detailed outcomes and grading criteria and all City & Guilds approved centres, satellite centres and assessment sites MUST follow them, therefore the qualification is nationally standardised.
Some dog grooming qualifications are assessed through portfolio evidence and have no formally set assessment procedures, the assessments are created and written by each centre that offers that qualification; this means there could be a lack of continuity of standards across the country. Quite often there are no entry requirements to complete other Level 3 qualifications.
It is a prerequisite by City & Guilds to hold the 7763-02 Groomers Assistant qualification before registration onto the City &GuildsLevel 3 Diploma. Level 2 covers all areas of preparation and welfare of the animal, a vital part to any potential groomer’s knowledge.
The underpinning knowledge required for the City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming is extremely detailed. All aspects of dog grooming - health and safety, legislations, risk and hazards, animal welfare and other legislations relating to animals, health, anatomy and physiology, first aid, parasites, diseases/disorders/disabilities, behaviour, handling and restraints, styling and finishing various coat types/breeds &cross breeds, customer care, management and finance are covered.
Summit and its satellite centres have built a reputation as being top quality centres offering high standards of training and qualifications. All centres have been personally approved by Joanne Angus LCGI and Zoe Duffy LCGI, who are two of the most highly qualified and experienced dog groomers in the industry.
Procedures that are set by Summit and City & Guilds give support and guidance to both the satellite centres and the student regarding the available qualifications.
Summit students can be confident that they will receive the best training and a smooth qualification process when they select a Summit satellite centre as their training school and City and Guilds as their chosen qualification.

We are often asked, how is Devon so white ?

It is our belief that diet plays a major part in this. Devon is fed on Wafcol Salmon & Potato small/medium dog.  Healthy on the inside means healthy on the outside and you only have to look at devon to see this.  Her snow white coat, bright eyes & health weight speaks for itself.
